When you put some of the world's most creative people in close proximity with a computer and arm them with a program like Macromedia Flash—OK, so it was bought out by Adobe who now call it "Adobe Flash" but the name lacks the magic of the original—you can expect to come up with strange and entertaining web sites.

Some of those sites generate E-cards, electronic greeting cards, you can send to your on-line friends. Some of those cards are animated. Some, like those on JibJab, allow editing so that you can put yourself in the picture or video, as the case may be.

JibJab isn't a free site, but it's not expensive either. When I joined the fee was $US12 p.a. I subscribed last October when I saw the possibility of using it for my Creative Writing Class's Christmas greeting.

I'll embed a couple of them in this article so that you can see for yourself but, because not all browsers play embedded videos very well, I'll also give a link to let you see them on JibJab's own site.

Those angelic faces belong to George, Alan, Deirdre, John and Tietje. If the card wouldn't play for you, CLICK HERE to see it on the JibJab site. The rest of the class also featured in two other clips—one showing their shenanigans with a Christmas tree and the other showing them slacking off in Santa's toy room.

Of course, JibJab don't limit themselves to Christmas. There are greeting cards and videos for just about everything you could think of—and a few that you probably wouldn't. Lynne, and I have never fussed about St. Valentine's Day, so this next card seemed appropriate.

OK, I'll admit it: that was me with the shotgun. If you couldn't view it here then click on THIS LINK.

Americans are the most overtly patriotic people on earth and they just wouldn't be true to their self-image if they didn't do something special to celebrate a presidential election. The extraordinary contest between McKain and Obama was too good to pass up and JibJab's tribute was both apt and funny.

JibJab isn't everybody's site but if you want something different, it just might suit you.
