A Twisted Mind

A few years ago when I was writing the "Tall Tales" column for the Penrith Star I had a phone call from the editor, Jeff McGill. He said that he and the other journalists had been wondering where I got my ideas. "I'm sorry to tell you this," he said, "but we've come to the conclusion that you're insane."

Yes, well . . .

Early in 2006 I wondered if there was a creative writing class in the area where I could go and inflict my insanity on others while, at the same time, enjoying theirs. When none was available I volunteered to start one with U3A.

It was a wonderful experience with a great group of people but unfortunately, for personal reasons, did not go ahead in 2007.  It resumed in 2008 at Blaxland.

We started a temporary class website during the first year and that led to a request from U3A president, Reg Grace, to take over the U3A web page.

When I looked at it I knew how Alexander the Great felt when faced with the Gordian Knot. It was such a mess that the page had to be rebuilt from scratch. There was only one solution—out with the sword and hack through it. I hope you find the new version easy to use, informative, and entertaining.

Apart from the U3A and Creative Writing web pages I also have a site of my own. Charles Schulz (of Peanuts fame) once said, "Don't worry that the world might end today; it's already tomorrow in Australia." So I realised that Australia is Tomorrowland and this became the name of my personal website—a collection of yarns, both true and imaginary, about life in Australia. It contains much of my published work and a lot that was written specifically for the Internet.

If you have an idle moment why not drop in for a visit. You can do it by clicking the link below.
