Freda Whitlam
There is a biography of Freda Whitlam being released in February entitled , Freda - A Biography of Freda Whitlam, by Noelene Martin
Based on documentary and oral sources, this thoroughly researched biography brings Freda Whitlam out of the shadows anf reveals her as wise, pithy, witty, intimidating, sometimes eccentric, and always ready to work and struggle for what she believes in. In 1989 Freda discovered an interest which was to become a lasting passion. Due to her abiding fascination in learning and her belief that education was a life-long process, she learned of an organisation promoting education for older people: the University of the Third Age (U3A). Freda initiated a public meeting in the Penrith City Chambers where she successfully established the need for a branch of the U3A in Penrith.
A fascinating biography, in large print, which is a must for people interested in our history.

Details of all Walks for Term 1 are shown HERE.
Photograph Archives
In preparation for our 2010 Conference, I am organizing our archives and photographs.
Most of the photographs have no dates, no names and not even Tutor’s name or class.
If you think you could help identify some of these photographs (especially the early years 1990 – 2000), would you please contact Hedi Roggeveen on 4732 2978 or leave a message at the Office.
I will try to arrange a mutual convenient time to go through the photographs with you. An hour ought to be long enough.
Hoping someone can help!
Hedi
