The Purrminator

A few years ago, when a burglar was captured on web-cam, the owner published the video on the Internet. This invoked outrage from the Council for Civil Liberties because, they said, the thief should have been presumed innocent until he was convicted. It's a bit like pleading clemency for Lizzie Borden because she was an orphan.

This month, Mary Bale of Coventry has discovered the power of the Internet. Dubbed "the Purrminator" she attracted world-wide notoriety when the CCTV coverage of her action went viral.

Quite apart from the poor cat's trauma, and the concerns about a mind sick enough to commit such a cruel act, there has inevitably been a lot of humour about it. The following video 30-second clip shows somebody's idea of the cat's revenge. It reminded me a little of Crocodile Dundee donning a kangaroo skin and firing back at a group of roo shooters.

Then the UK's Sun Newspaper got into the act and produced an on-line game called Whack Cat Woman. You play by clicking the Purrminator's head as she pops out of various wheely bins. There's an element of irony in using a mouse to score points off a cat hater. It's not possible to embed the game on our website but you can play it at The Sun by CLICKING HERE.
